Pogo pin connectors are an alternative to traditional male and female pin connectors. They allow for creating quick, multi-line connections between modules, easy to assemble and disassemble, with a long lifetime. In addition: they make it possible to construct circuits that are more compact and simpler to produce. The presented products originate from the offer of the ATTEND brand – a trusted Taiwanese supplier of electronic connectors.
The Pogo Pin's principle of action is simple – instead of pairing male and female elements, the connectors create a connection between a pin (usually spring-loaded) and a pad on the PCB. Such pads in a printed circuit board are typically gold-plated to make contact sites resistant to corrosive factors. An example of Pogo Pin application may be connecting boards to diagnostic devices using “test pad” points. They may also be applied to connect expansion modules with GPIO leads of start-up kits and single-board computers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi etc.) – in this way, one avoids the need to solder pin connectors.
The offered connectors are available in three design variants, i.e. single pin in cylindrical or cuboid housing and “machine pin”. In the first two models, the component has a spring (max. 1.3mm), ensuring shock absorption, so it can be pressed in with reduced risk of damaging the PCB. In the case of a “machine pin”, the connector is rigid, so the connection will require pressing in with controlled force. The products also differ in height, these are sizes of (accordingly) 6mm, 7.5mm and 4.4mm.
