Bivar is an American manufacturer that has been present in the market of mechanical components for electronics for more than fifty years now. Its product assortment mainly includes mechanical solutions for PCB mounting and LEDs, as well as alignment components. The TME catalogue features a diverse range of products supplied by this manufacturer and has recently been expanded to include new items.
This week, we are introducing the UHF series of LED light pipes by Bivar. Made of silicone and rated IP67, these products are used in many types of equipment and machines, primarily for the construction of control panels, interfaces, and similar applications. Their purpose is to transfer light signals from the LED face to the front of the user panel. With their help, you can place indicator lights and the control circuitry on a single PCB and keep the lights clearly visible to the user. This simplifies the device design and thus lowers the cost of production.
The length of the Bivar light pipes available at TME ranges from 6.4 mm to 152.4 mm. The diameter of the convex face is from 3.6 mm to 5.6 mm, thanks to which the products presented here are compatible with the most popular LED sizes. Most of the pipes consist of the light-guiding component itself and a base for attaching it to the PCB (in openings). The base is made of black plastic, which also serves a masking function and prevents light from passing through to the neighbouring light guides, as this may impair the readability of the indicator lights.
