Right-angled feedthrough connectors (RAFTs) by CLIFF

One of the challenges encountered in the design of modern industrial installations and IT systems is to reconcile the miniaturisation of equipment with the need to make a number of indispensable connection interfaces as easily accessible as possible. One solution to address such design issues are the RAFT connectors developed by UK-based brand CLIFF.

RAFT is an acronym that stands for the Right Angled Feed Through. Solutions of this type are included in the DUALSLIM and FT product series. They are panel-mounted and feature two female connectors – one is external and the other, perpendicular one is internal. This design makes it possible to feed the signal into the socket even in devices where space behind the panel is extremely limited. In this way, the user has easy access to the connectors of a rack-mounted or wall-mounted device, while the designer can utilise almost the entire interior of the enclosure (and use standard connection cables, or patchcords, in the design).

In addition, DUALSLIM connectors feature a special flange design, thanks to which it is possible to mount the connector on either side of the panel: inside (so that the face of the socket is flush with the panel) and outside (this mounting method is easier, as it does not require great precision when making the mounting hole).

The manufacturer supplies RAFT connectors in several popular standards. The TME catalogue includes models for network devices (RJ45 connectors), as well as HDMI-compatible components.
