New soldering stations from the GT and CV (Connection Validation) series by Metcal are now available at TME.

GT soldering stations

The GT soldering stations stand out on the market thanks to the combination of the induction heating technology and the temperature control function. Thanks to this solution, they offer a shorter heat-up time and high temperature stability when soldering. The temperature accuracy is compliant with the IPC J-STD-001 standard (relating to modern solder joint validation methods). The stations are available in two power variants: 90 W (GT90-HP-T4) and 120 W (GT120-HP-T6). Digital temperature control can be used in the range from 150°C to 450°C. Moreover, the stations have an auto-sleep and hibernation function that gets activated automatically after a pre-set period of inactivity. The device offers the possibility to store three temperature settings. In addition, the user can lock the parameters by means of a password. The stations are fitted with a USB port for powering external devices and updating software.

CV soldering station

The CV-5210 station employs the advanced Connection Validation technology (hence CV), in which the LED ring on the soldering iron's flask is used to inform the user in real time about the quality of the solder joint. Green or red colours indicate, respectively, a correct or incorrect connection. The CV system is an effective method of assessing solder joints as soon as they are made and it ensures high replicability of work results, minimising the time used for the verification of circuits.

The CV-5210 soldering station has a power of 80 W, and, thanks to the use of the SmartHeat technology, it provides high temperature accuracy of ±1.1°C, which also meets the IPC J-STD-001 standard. Temperature control is carried out in the the range from 302°C to 510°C, by replacing the soldering tip. You can use the device to work simultaneously with two tools, with dynamically shared power. The station automatically detects a connected tool.

The CV-5210 interface is made with a colour 2.8” TFT touchscreen display, which makes it is possible to check the statistics of the soldering process. Communication and updating of the station takes place via a USB port. The station has a function of parameter locking by means of a password, as well as an auto-sleep function.

The products from the series described above are available as ESD devices, i.e. they provide a high level of safety against electrostatic discharge. TME offers a wide range of soldering tips, which are sold separately. The stations presented here will prove useful at manufacturing workstations and laboratories, where high accuracy and repeatability of processes are required.
