Today, we would like to draw your attention to the extensive range of photoresistors supplied by NTE, which are available directly from our stock.
These low-cost and popular light sensors, although popularly referred to as photoresistors, are in fact semiconductor components, in which the operating part is a thin layer of photoconductive material. Their conductivity increases with the number of photons incident on the surface. In practice, this means that when no light falls on the component, its resistance is very high (which is why sometimes it is called dark resistance) and decreases as the intensity of light increases. The acronym that is used to refer to those elements, LDR, stands for LDR - light dependent resistor.
Sensors that belong to this group are characterised by a short response time, high sensitivity and performance. Moreover, their mode of operation makes them suitable for a variety of electronic circuits, in which they can be replaced by simple resistors or potentiometers at the stage of prototyping and testing.
The products presented here are available in epoxy resin-encapsulated THT versions and come in diameters ranging from 5 mm to 20 mm. Their rated power ranges from 90 mW to 500 mW (depending on the model), which translates into a great number of applications. The components are used in security and control systems, industrial detectors, lamp controllers, and even automatic lighting controls, lux meters and related devices. It should also be noted that the photoresistors supplied by NTE can operate at voltages as high as 500 V DC.
