Cynergy3, a part of Sensata Technologies, is a UK-based manufacturer renowned for its excellent quality industrial temperature and pressure sensors, as well as flowmeters or electromagnetic relays. TME now offers the OLS2 series of liquid level sensors from the supplier’s portfolio.
The products described here feature 250 mm long connecting wires and are powered by 5–15 V DC or 10–28 V DC (depending on the model), i.e. the typical voltages available in industrial electronics systems. The sensors are enclosed in threaded bodies (thread type: M12) and are usually mounted in an opening in a tank or a reservoir wall, where they serve to continuously monitor the presence of liquid. For liquid detection, they use infrared (IR) light rays, which are neutral to the vast majority of chemicals.
It is worth noting that the housings are made of PSF, a plastic distinguished by its mechanical and thermal strength. The components can operate over a wide temperature range of -25°C–80°C or -40°C–125°C. Therefore, they can be applied in a variety of industrial processes (and beyond) and can keep track of the level of both coolants and boiling water, etc. In addition, you can choose from four output configurations: push/pull high, push/pull low, OC high, OC low. In other words, it is possible to use the OLS2 components in conjunction with controllers based on digital (TTL) circuits. This also makes it easier to find the right sensor for the requirements of the existing system.
