G9KB is one of the newest series of relays from the leading manufacturer of automation components in the world, Omron.
The G9KB relays are designed for applications in energy storage systems and switching between power supply circuits and electronic load circuits (i.e. inverters). Standard DC systems are fitted with either two or four electromagnetic components, which lowers the voltages present at their contacts, and additionally relieves them from high electric currents. This, in turn, prevents moving parts from sintering and arcing when they get switched on/off. In the case of the G9KB series, the innovative technology of arc suppression has been applied through embedding permanent magnets into the relay. In this way, an energy storage battery’s circuit can be open/closed with the use of a single relay, which leads to significant downsizing of the controller’s PCB footprint, simplifies its design, and in many cases results in saving money.
The G9KB is available in the SPST-NO configuration. Its coil can be rated at either 12 V or 24 V DC. The switching capacity of the relay contacts reaches 600 V DC, at the rated current of 50 A.
This type of relays has a wide variety of applications in industrial and consumer energy storage systems (renewable energy sources, photovoltaic cells), charging stations for cars and other electric vehicles (EV), V2H and V2G systems (i.e. integrated energy control between a household/network and a vehicle).
