The TME offer now includes the PM6B series LEDs manufactured by Prolight Opto. It is one of the latest developments in power LEDs supplied by this manufacturer, characterised by high quality and high efficiency.
Over the past few years, LEDs have evolved from serving merely a signalling function to gradually take over the areas of application that were previously dominated by incandescent light. Increasingly better materials and technological developments have allowed new standards to emerge, such as LEDs operating at 350 mA. In addition, progressive miniaturisation has made it possible to enclose light-emitting structures in a small (6 mm diameter), surface-mounted (SMD) EMITER casing. This has resulted in the development of light sources which boast high efficiency and brightness of several dozens of lumens.
One of the challenges the designers faced was effective heat dissipation – in order to benefit from the component’s maximum performance, it is necessary to ensure its proper cooling, e.g. through the use of a heatsink. Having that in mind, in order to facilitate the use of Prolight’s products, the supplier has introduced the STAR module, where the LED is placed on an aluminium base, which optimises component’s thermoregulation and also facilitates its installation and electrical connection.
The tri-colour LEDs from Prolight include three structures emitting red, green and blue light (RGB). They are electrically independent of each other – each one has leads in the form of an anode and a cathode. This makes it easy to control the final colour you wish to obtain from mixing the three colours, but also the brightness of the light. A special lens makes it possible to achieve a viewing angle of up to 130°. The Prolight LEDs presented here are often applied in decorative lighting, effect lighting, outdoor architecture as well as interior decoration and design.
