The TME catalogue now includes the NYS series of connectors from REAN. These are plugs and sockets that are compliant with the standard 6.3 mm Jack configuration. They are truly universal, feature a simple design and are easy to install.
At TME, you can find several variants of the NYS connectors. Primarily, they are available in mono and stereo (2-pole and 3-pole) versions. Depending on the model, REAN sockets are designed for panel mounting (with solder terminals for wire connections) or for direct mounting on a PCB (through-hole mounting –THT). Some of the products have a pin used for connection detection – it is most often used to disconnect the speaker amplifier after earphones are connected. Plug connectors for cables are available for purchase in straight or angled versions. They are suitable for cables with diameters of up to 10 mm. In most models, metal housings have been used, but the assortment also includes plugs with plastic enclosures.
This type of connectors is primarily used in audio applications, musical equipment, etc. They can also be used for other purposes, such as connecting sensors, switches, external accessories, or power supplies. Much appreciated advantages of the 6.3 mm Jack standard are its relatively high current-carrying capacity and the design that prevents reverse polarity connection.
