The MC4 connectors are widely used in photovoltaic installations all over the world. Their history dates back to the 1990s, when they were first developed in the laboratories of Swiss brand Stäubli. Today, you can browse through the TME catalogue to find original solutions from this manufacturer, which guarantee the highest quality of workmanship and outstanding performance. These include e.g. the MC4 Evo 2 series of panel-mount connectors and sockets, which have just been added to our range of products.
Stäubli PV (photovoltaic) connectors are based on the innovative MULTILAM technology. Thanks to the use of multiple contact points, the quality of connection and energy transmission is significantly improved. This translates into an even lower contact resistance, as well as safe and long-lasting operation of the connectors. As a result, the maintenance costs are reduced, while the wiring parameters are optimised. The connectors support wires with a cross-section from 4 mm2 to 10 mm2 (up to 8.8 mm diameter, depending on the model).
The original Stäubli PV connectors from the MC4 connector series show no tendency to build up heat and have a stable operating temperature, while their thermal tolerance ranges from -40°C to 85°C. This minimises the risk of power loss, downtime, hot spots or even fire, which could lead to immense repair costs.
The MC4 and MC4 Evo 2 connectors and panel-mount sockets are a cost-effective and high quality solution for low-voltage DC applications up to 1500 V and 69 A.
