The TME catalogue now includes new PTC heaters by STEGO. These are components used to increase the temperature in control cabinets, control panels and other enclosures. Ensuring optimum thermal conditions eliminates the risk of condensation – a phenomenon that could result in ground faults and short-circuits in electrical lines, serious failures of electronic equipment, as well as contamination and contact degradation. Dedicated heaters are manufactured in formats designed for DIN rail mounting (35 mm). Solutions from the LTF 065 series are precisely such products.
STEGO components are available in 50-, 100- and 150-watt versions. They can be powered directly from the 120...240 V AC mains, as they have a built-in thermostat (the manufacturer recommends including a fuse in the power supply circuit). Connections are made using quick splice connectors that are compatible with stranded (cross-sections 0.5...1.5 mm2) or solid wire conductors (0.5…2.5mm2). With an aluminium profile and a vertically oriented housing, the heater facilitates convectional airflow to achieve uniform temperature distribution inside the enclosure. The products are made to operate continuously; thermal stability here is ensured by a PTC resistor. Thanks to this design, the products can be used in areas where temperatures reach -45°C to 70°C, for example in switchboxes installed outdoors and exposed to sunlight. Depending on the model, the heater will switch on at 5°C or 15°C, and get disconnected when 15°C or 25°C is reached.
A significant advantage of the LTF 065 heaters is their small size (module width: 57 mm, depth: 124 mm or 184 mm). This means that they help make efficient use of the space available in the enclosure. They can also be placed between other devices, as their surface temperature (excluding the top ventilation grille from which heated air is extracted) does not exceed 80°C during normal operation. The devices have been tested in accordance with the IEC60068 international standard.
